Local Attractions
There are so many beautiful places to discover on the island, from charming tavernas to hidden beaches and unforgettable views.
Below are a few of our favourite spots in and around Skiathos to help you make the most of your time there.
Plakes Beach
A hidden gem tucked away in one of Skiathos’ coves. Right next to our reception location, it is a must visit for a morning dip – bring drinks and snacks if you plan on stying a while – there is nothing but nature and great views here.
Parissis Winery
Set in the heart of Skiathos, Parissis Winery is the perfect spot to sip, savour, and soak up the island’s flavours. Known for its award-winning wines crafted from local grapes, the winery offers tastings in a relaxed, sun-drenched setting surrounded by rolling vineyards. Tip: Taxis from the port can be tricky to find for destinations other than the airport, so we recommend asking your accommodation to help arrange one in advance.
The Windmill Restaurant
Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of Skiathos town and the sparkling Aegean, The Windmill is a true island gem. Known for its delicious Greek cuisine and warm, welcoming atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for a leisurely meal or a romantic dinner as the sun sets. With fresh, local ingredients and dishes full of flavour, dining here is as much about the incredible food as it is about the breathtaking views. Tip: You must book!
Skiathos is a true island paradise, famous for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters. From the golden sands of Koukounaries, perfect for sunbathing and watersports, to the quieter, hidden gems like Banana Beach and Vromolimnos, there’s a spot for every vibe. Megali Ammos, just a short stroll from town, is great for a relaxing day with cocktails, while Lalaria Beach, with its striking white pebbles and turquoise waves, feels almost otherworldly. All can be reached via the local bus route from Skiathos Town, and some by water taxi.
Bourtzi Restaurant
Set against a breathtaking waterfront that curves around the port, Bourtzi offers a serene and stunning spot for breakfast, dinner, or cocktails. It’s our favourite breakfast spot on the island – and a little tip: don’t miss the toilets, which come with one of the best views in Skiathos!
We highly recommend a boat trip to neighbouring Skopelos, home to some of the most iconic Mamma Mia! filming locations, including Kastani Beach, Agnontas, and the beautiful Chapel of Agios Ioannis. If you plan on a little Island hopping, Skopelos is a great island to explore as your next stop! The island boasts stunning natural beaches, delicious food, quaint shops, and plenty of bars – don’t leave without trying their Greek cheese pie.

Kastani Beach
A true slice of paradise, Kastani is one of Skopelos’ most famous beaches, known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft golden sand. Surrounded by lush pine forests, it’s the perfect spot to relax, swim, and soak up the island vibes. For Mamma Mia! fans, it’s extra special as this is the beach where some of the film’s most iconic scenes were shot. v
Chapel of Agios Ioannis
Perched atop a dramatic sea rock, this iconic chapel dedicated to Saint John offers breathtaking panoramic views from every angle. Rising 100 meters above the water, it’s one of the most picturesque spots in Skopelos and a must see for Mamma Mia! movie fans. If you’re planning a visit, skip the coach – the steep, cliff-edge roads are not for the faint-hearted! Instead, we highly recommend a boat trip to fully enjoy the stunning scenery and take in this magical location safely.
Perivoli Restaurant
Tucked away on a charming cobbled street in Skopelos town, Perivoli offers a truly romantic dining experience. Nestled within a lush orchard and surrounded by a blooming garden, tables sit beneath a canopy of vine leaves. Every dish is made with fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden, along with the finest local ingredients, making for a meal that’s as magical as the setting.
